Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC), Patna has released the official notification (Advt No. 24/2026) for the regular recruitment of Food Analyst (खाद्य विश्लेषक) under the Bihar Food Safety Service, Health Department. Eligible candidates possessing the required qualifications and FSSAI certification can apply online from 20 May 2026 to 19 June 2026. Detailed Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

Candidates must fulfill ALL THREE of the following mandatory requirements to be eligible for this post:

  • 1. Academic Qualification: Must hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate Degree from a recognized university in Chemistry, Microbiology, Dairy Chemistry, Agriculture Science, Animal Science, Fisheries Science, Bio-Technology, Food Safety, Food Technology, Food & Nutrition, Dairy Technology, Oil Technology, or Veterinary Science.
  • 2. Work Experience: Must possess a minimum of 3 years of work experience in Food Analysis.
  • 3. Certification: Must have successfully passed the Food Analyst Examination conducted by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), New Delhi.

Age Limit (As on 01/08/2026)

  • Minimum Age Required: 21 Years.
  • Maximum Age Limit: 37 Years (UR Male) | 40 Years (UR Female, BC/EBC Male & Female) | 42 Years (SC/ST Male & Female).
  • Special Age Relaxation (Important): Candidates who crossed the maximum age limit between 01.08.2021 and 01.08.2026 are also eligible to apply, provided they meet all other qualifications. (This relaxation is given because the age calculation in the previous recruitment was based on 2021).

Selection Process & Exam Pattern

  • Step 1: Computer Based Test (CBT): A written competitive examination will be held in CBT mode. The exam will consist of 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions.
  • Exam Duration & Marking: The time duration will be 2 Hours. Each correct answer carries 1 mark, and there is a Negative Marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.
  • Syllabus: Questions will be based on the Food Analyst graduation level curriculum determined by the requisitioning department.
  • Normalization & Qualifying Marks: If the exam is held in multiple shifts, normalization will be applied. Candidates must secure minimum qualifying marks: UR – 40%, BC – 36.5%, EBC – 34%, and SC/ST/Women/PwD – 32%.
  • Step 2: Document Verification: Candidates qualifying in the CBT will be called for Document Verification based on their merit.
